Fall Neighborhood Social — Friday, Oct. 20, 6:00p.m.

Neighborhood Social
Friday, Oct. 20, 6:00p.m.

5647 Hyacinth Ave.

We’re looking forward to our Fall Social this Friday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m.! And this time we’re doing it a little differently. Our event will be B.Y.O.B. — bring your own beer (or wine) — and we will be hosting a raffle, where one lucky resident will win a little something special.

Although we typically manage to secure multiple hosts and coordinate a walking route through the neighborhood, this time we’ll be focused on a single stop — 5647 Hyacinth Ave. Big thanks to Kelly Stein for offering to host our event!

Walk on over at your convenience to meet old and new friends and enjoy a glass of wine that pairs perfectly with our nice Fall weather while you’re at it. We look forward to an enjoyable social evening and invite all Pollard residents to join in!

Spring Wine Walk

The CAPE Spring Wine Walk is this Friday, April 28th at 6:00 pm. All interested Pollard residents should bring a bottle of wine per couple to 5845 South Pollard Parkway by Wednesday, April 26th. There will be a sign-up sheet so that participants can be notified by email once the walking route is established.

We are also looking for host volunteers to set up wine-tasting stations in their driveways. All you need is a table and CAPE will do the rest — providing cheeses and other snacks to complement the wines supplied by our residents. Please send us an email if you are interested in hosting as soon as possible, so we can establish the route and notify the community.

If you can’t walk the entire route, you can join at any of the designated host stations at your convenience. This is a great chance to meet your neighbors and reconnect with friends — all while discovering new wines. We look forward to an enjoyable social evening and invite all Pollard residents to join in!

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

  • 5853 Hibiscus Dr Baton Rouge, LA, 70808 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our annual CAPE Easter Egg Hunt is planned for Saturday, April 1st at the vacant lot behind 5815 Hibiscus Street just off of South Columbine. We had a great turnout last year on a wonderful sunny afternoon, and we’re looking forward to another day of fun with the whole family this year.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Parents are requested to bring 2 dozen filled plastic Easter eggs for each participating child to 5845 South Pollard Parkway or 5945 Hyacinth Avenue prior to April 1st. A sign-up sheet will be available to register each child for the hunt. Please don’t fill the plastic eggs with treats that can melt in the sun. (Small toys are a popular option, rather than chocolate candies).

We will have snowcones available and the Easter Bunny will be there to greet the kids and pose for pictures. We’re also looking for volunteers to help hide eggs and supervise the event. If you’re willing to help, please come about an hour before the hunt.

All are welcome! Come on out, have some fun, and enjoy a snowball. We hope to see you there!

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat

Join us for Halloween in Pollard Estates!

Because our neighborhood is quite large with somewhat dim lighting and a lack of sidewalks for safety, we will have Trick or Treat from the streets rather than from each individual front door. With this in mind, please take the following into consideration:

  1. Trick or Treat will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 31. Anyone driving in the neighborhood at this time should take special precautions and watch for children!

  2. Please give out candy in your driveway rather than having children knock on your door. This will keep them from having to walk all the way up the driveway and save them precious time to canvas the neighborhood for candy.

  3. If you prefer to have kids knock, please remember to turn on your lights so they will know that knocking on your door means they get a special treat. Houses without lights on should be skipped by Trick or Treaters.

  4. We usually have a handful of families that will host activities in their front yards to promote movement throughout the neighborhood, so if you are so inclined, please set up your tables and displays to be readily visible.

  5. This is also a good time to meet and greet your neighbors at the end of your driveway.

  6. Trick or Treaters should wear reflective or glow in the dark items and carry flashlights.

  7. Trick or Treaters should also be accompanied by an adult.
